Kindly hosted by STEG, the meeting of the OME Strategy Committee successfully took place in Tunis on 24 April. In the first session, Mr Ben Daly, CEO STEG and OME Vice Chairman gave a presentation on the energy situation and challenges for Tunisia, which was followed by a rich debate. The meeting also discussed the Euro-Mediterranean Platform on Gas and role of OME as stakeholder, in addition of its role of the Platform Secretariat, the OME 2015 Conference, contribution of OME to COP21 and the Expo Milano 2015.
As for the Gas Platform, participants in particular discussed and agreed on topics of common interest to be suggested in the Platform work programme. At this occasion, an OME Task Force has been set up and is presently composed of: EDISON, EDF, ENI, ETAP, Gas Natural, GDF SUEZ, ONEE, STEG, TOTAL and OME secretariat. Other members willing to join the Task Force are more than welcome. The purpose of this Task Force is to follow the progress of the Gas Platform activities and when needed coordinate the contribution of OME as stakeholder (the voice of the industry in the Platform). The Task Force activities will be organized mainly through e-mails and conference calls.
As for the 2015 OME Conference, it will take place on the occasion of the OME General Assembly in Hammamet (Tunisia) on 11 and 12 June. The Conference will be organized in the framework of the Euro-Mediterranean Platform on Gas.
