Geopolitical pathways for the energy transition: the Eastern Mediterranean
On 24 April 2024, OMEC participated in a conference on “Geopolitical pathways for the energy transition: the Eastern Mediterranean” organised jointly by the Naturgy Foundation and the Elcano Royal Institute in Madrid to analyse the geopolitical implications of the energy transition. The subjects covered during the event included the potential for energy cooperation in the Eastern Mediterranean, the commercial development of the region’s natural gas reserves and renewables, electricity interconnection projects with Egypt and Israel and European-Egyptian cooperation on green hydrogen, as well as drivers, barriers and the implications for the EU.
