The OMEC Green Energy Technologies Committee organizes the kick-off meeting of the Sustainable Maritime transport study
Within the framework of a comprehensive analysis of Sustainable Mobility in the Mediterranean, OMEC Green Energy Technologies Committee organized the kick-off meeting of a first study, which focuses on sustainable maritime transport. This topic has been selected as maritime transport will have to undergo profound structural changes to meet decarbonization targets in the region and contribute to blue economy. Moreover, as the UfM working group on Gas, Emissions Abatement and Hydrogen, whose Secretariat is operated by OMEC, is also addressing this issue, important synergies can be exploited.
The Kick-off meeting took place online on 23 July 2024. In addition to OMEC members, key stakeholders operating in the Mediterranean maritime sector were invited to share experience, identify priorities and provide inputs to the study.
Additional meetings are planned in September and November. The report will be finalized by the end of 2024.
