OME General Assembly, by video-conference
OME General Assembly meeting took place on 30 September 2020, by video-conference. The General Assembly nominated Mr. Mohamed Ammar, recently appointed CEO of Steg (Tunisia), as Chairman of OME. The General Assembly also discussed the impact of the Covid-19 on the Mediterranean energy sector, reiterated the importance of reinvigorating the cooperation in the region also by widening its scope, and renewed the will to enlarge the OME membership, also geographically. It was generally acknowledged that the important role of OME as the voice of the energy industry shall be further put forward in the context of the energy transition and the European Green Deal. Acting as a bridge between the two shores of the Mediterranean Basin, the OME is an important actor to promote a fully-fledged Euro-Mediterranean Green Deal to ensure a homogeneous regional development, respecting the differences between countries, in the pursuit of a common goal. The OME Executive Committee meeting took place the same day, also by video-conference.
